Just in Time: How to Travel to Viareggio in Italy

There are a lot of reasons to go to Viareggio. You can visit the city during the Carnival—the carnival of Viareggio is famous for being historically flamboyant. Aside from that, there are a lot of other reasons to visit the place. If not for the Carnival, you could also go there for the history. Italy is a very old city and you can go to a number of places and still have lots of others to go to.

If you want to visit, here are a few tips on how to arrive there. You can go by the normal route or you can go and take a rental car.

The Location: Versilia

Versilia is an area which is known as the ‘Tuscan Riviera.’ It is also located in an area adjacent to Pisa, Lucca, and Florence. These historical cities—and many more—can be accessed by different means. Whether you plan to ride in a luxury car or public transportation, you can go and take in the many sights and sounds of the Italian Riviera.

Traveling by Train

You can choose to travel by train to Viareggio in time for the festival. It’s also better if you’re planning on doing something first, like see the Italian countryside or go to other places. If you’re staying over any of these places—Rome, Milan, or Florence—you can take a train to Viareggio. Alternatively, if your flight lands at Pisa Airport, you can also take the train from there directly to the city.

Traveling by Bus

Traveling on a bus is a classic when you’re on a vacation. There are many experiences a road trip gives you and it’s even better with a bus, with all the stops in between your destination and the bus station (if there are any). If you’re traveling by bus, book ahead of time so you can avoid the long lines. If you can’t book, arrive as early as possible to avoid any delays.

Traveling by car

If you want to make more memories when you travel, you can get a car rental from any dealers in Italy or where you’re going to land. Driving a car hardly counts as a vacation chore, but you can always enjoy the countryside better. An added bonus is to dictate your own pace and see places at your own times. Remember to rent a car that’s well within your means.

Traveling by plane

Currently, the only way to get to Viareggio by plane is to take one, land at the Pisa airport, and from there, take any of the available options to get to Viareggio itself. While waiting for a bus or the train you can also take a look at the Leaning Tower of Pisa. If you’re taking a rental car, you can also visit many places on the way before you get to Viareggio.

There are definitely many ways to reach the town of Viareggio. The most important thing is to enjoy the ways you travel and the experience of traveling with the people you love.
